WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We are ordering Team Campbell t-shirts for the March for Babies. We will be selling them to raise money for the March of Dimes and giving some away in our raffle.

The front image will be like the above pictures but we need a saying for the back. Robbie and I are not creative so we need some suggestions! There is no word limit but we do want to either include the words "Team Campbell" or "Campbell". It can be funny, sentimental, or sweet. If we pick your saying, we'll be mailing you a free Team Campbell 2009 tshirt that includes your saying.

Please give us your ideas by Tuesday! We will pick our favorites and post a poll on the blog. We have already been given some ideas via Facebook so we will be sure to include those in the poll. The poll will only be up a couple of days, so be sure to check back and vote.

Also, if you know you would like to order a Team Campbell t-shirt, please leave a comment or email us at robbieandmartha@gmail.com with your size and color preference. The shirts will be $10 (plus $2 if we will have to ship it to you) and all profits from their sale will go straight to the March of Dimes for Team Campbell. Spread the Love

We had a lot of fun today at our Spread the Love event. It was windy, but the music was fun and Doc's dancing was...well, something to see.



We want to thank the folks from 107.9 the Link, Phyllis from the March of Dimes, and KMart. We also want to give shout-outs to Nana and Pop, Emily, Ethan, and Macy, and Nichole and Joseph Hedgepeth for coming out.

Reminder about Sunday - Spread the Love

Hey Rock Hill Folks . . .
Martha and I wanted to remind everyone about Campbell's BIG EVENT tomorrow, 2 - 4 in the Kmart parking lot (directions). Doc, from 107.9 The Link (Matt and Ramona) show will be trapped in a playpen until enough money is raised to free him. The Link will have live music and games for all who come by.
Martha, Campbell, and I will be out there . . . . so we hope you come by to say "Hi" and to show your support for Team Campbell and the March of Dimes.

Woo Hoo! The RSV rates for South Carolina are at the lowest point since August! We're all breathing a sigh of relief. We even took Campbell to church nursery for the first time since August.

March of Dimes Raffle and Radio Event

We have some exciting things going on around here! In our continuing efforts to raise money for the March of Dimes (see posts on 1/15, 3/4 and 3/9), Robbie and I have decided to do a "raffle."

This is how it will work:
For every $5 that you donate to the March of Dimes (by clicking on the link to the right), we will enter your name into the raffle. We have a list of items which is getting longer by the day. We will keep the list updated in the box under the March of Dimes donation link on the right. On April 20th, which is the Sunday before the March for Babies, we will assign all entries a number and use a website (random.org) to choose numbers for each prize. We will announce the winners and get your prize to you. If you have already donated, don't worry! Your names will also be added to the raffle.

Also, this Sunday, March 29th at 2:00 pm we will join Doc from the Matt & Ramona show on 107.9 the Link at the KMart parking lot here in Rock Hill for a fun event. Doc will be confined to a baby's playpen until we raise a pre-determined amount of money. There will be representatives from the March of Dimes there along with the radio station folks. Robbie, Campbell, and I will be there to join in on the fun. We'd love it for all of you to come out and join us!

Remember, all money goes straight to the March of Dimes which is an organization that is close to our hearts.

Adventures in Baby-eating

I'm sad to report that my skills at babyfood-making are no longer needed. Campbell is officially a table food eater. We're using up the last of the purees and combos that I made but she really prefers table food. Here are a few fun pictures from her recent food experiences...

For those of you who are interested in what toddlers eat...here is a list of some of Campbell's favorite foods:
-cheese toast (her #1 fave)
-cheese quesadilla
-1/2 of a garden burger
-fruits (she loves berries of any kind, kiwi, hunks of banana to gnaw on, peaches, apple, applesauce- unsweetened of course, pears)
-veggies (I often use frozen and just microwave a serving size with a small amount of water for about a minute. Her fave is peas.)
-yogurt (full fat, plain, sometimes mixed with fruit)
-cottage cheese (also full fat)
-pita bread with hummus

We do try to feed her whole grains and mostly organics...but we've gotten a lot more relaxed about the organic part as she's gotten older and bigger. Which you can probably tell by the pictures of her eating pizza and a cupcake...

Today Campbell went to Mitchell's Birthday Party. As I'm writing this, I realize that I didn't get any pictures of Campbell and Mitchell . . . sorry Mitchell. Imagine a five year old boy . . . that's Mitchell.

Family and Friends . . . it's that time again when we need your help. As you know, we contribute Campbell's good health to three things . . . God, Hemby NICU, and the March of Dimes.
Last year Team Campbell raised over $2300 thanks to all of you. We want to surpass that total! This year, Doc with 107.9 The Link is partnering with us to help raise money. There are two ways to donate . . .

Our Meeting with Doc

Followup to the post from last week about being on the radio . . . today we were asked to come to the radio station so we can have a planning session with Doc. Doc is the one from the station (107.9 The Link) who is paired with us to help us raise money for the March of Dimes. We've brainstormed a few ides with him and the promotion staff (more details to come . . . hehe). The video below is our few moments on the radio. They told us that we would not be on the air, but we could go in and see the show put on . . . all of a sudden, they shoved in a mic in our face and the rest is history.

2nd Snow Day

Campbell enjoyed her 2nd snow day on Monday. The difference this time is her Daddy had to go to work and her Mommy does not like to be cold. So...around noon I wheeled her out to see the snow but we didn't actually touch the snow this time. We did walk around the neighborhood and check out the snowmen. Unfortunately, Campbell was more interested in eating her sunglasses than wearing them or checking out the snowmen...

How God Chooses A Preemie Parent- Author Unknown

Did you ever wonder how mothers of premature babies are chosen? Somehow, I visualize God hovering over Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation.

As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Armstrong, Beth, son. Patron Saint, Matthew. Forrest, Marjorie, daughter. Patron Saint, Celia. Rutledge, Carrie, twins. Patron Saint. . .give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles. "Give her a preemie."

The angel is curious. "Why this one, God? She's so happy." "Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."

"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel. "I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off she'll handle it.

"I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I'm going to give her has a world of its own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."

"But Lord, I don't think she even believes in you." God smiles. "No matter, I can fix that. This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness." The angel gasps, "Selfishness? Is that a virtue?" God nods.

"If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied.

She will never take for granted a spoken word.
She will never consider a step ordinary.
When her child says momma for the first time,
she will be witness to a miracle and know it.
I will permit her to see clearly the things I see, ignorance, cruelty, prejudice--and allow her to rise above them.
She will never be alone.
