Update: how much weight have you lost?

What were your struggles/successes?

What is your goal for next week? (could be diet or exercise related)

Question of the Week (remember you can answer this even if you're not part of the official check in):
Does anyone have any advice for running a 5k? (our first is Saturday!)

Martha's Update:
I did not lose any weight this week, however, I did not gain any weight either. I had a tough time because I hosted a party on Sunday so I made lots of yummy food and then had lots of leftovers. I have a hard time resisting sausage dip... I did get a great workout Tuesday night, though...I took the girls for a 2 and 1/2 mile walk while pulling them in the wagon. Let's just say, my whole body hurts today.

My goal for this coming week is to finish our 5k on Saturday (see my post on the Couch to 5K program I'm doing). I would like to run at least 2 of the 3.2 miles without walking. I haven't been able to run more than 23 minutes straight yet, so it'll be tough.

Robbie's Update:
Gained a pound...blaming it on the all you can eat buffet at the work social I went to Tuesday night. My goal for this week is to finish the 5K and exercise two other times.

Crafty Mommy Monday

Welcome back to Crafty Mommy Monday!  I have come off of hiatus to feature one of my favorite children's books, The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.

The great thing about this book is that you can do crafts relating to pumpkins, Halloween, scarecrows, clothing, etc.  I love Halloween so it's been a lot of fun to gather materials.

First, you have to go the Target $1 aisle.  I just love that place. There I got these cute Halloween stamps that Campbell is loving.

I also got stretchy spiders and mice and spider web material to make Campbell's sensory box.

I also got these Halloween mini erasers there.  We'll use them for counting, sorting, and patterning.  And then we'll give them out on Halloween along with the candy!

I made pieces for our felt board to go along with the story.

Campbell already loves this story and we just started!

Check back next week for more activities to go along with this book!

Crafty Mommy Monday...Get Ready!

CMM is still on hiatus, but I'm getting ready for the next unit and I wanted to give you all a head's up in case you would like to join us. October is one of my favorite months and one of my favorite children's books for that time of year is The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. I love this book and have used it every Fall in my class.

I saw it at Target just today, so if you're looking for a cute, repetitive book to read with your child, go pick it up!

Maggie- 4 Months

Maggie is 4 months old today!
Weight- chunky
Height- seems kinda short for all that chunk
(official stats will be added Monday after her dr appointment)
Update:
Weight- 15 lbs, 7.8 oz (90th percentile)
Height- 24 1/4 inches (50th percentile)
Head- 90th percentile
sooo....I was right, our baby is a butterball :)

Maggie has an infectious belly laugh that we adore and work hard to hear. She loves for us to blow raspberries at her and make faces. She coos and makes adorable baby sounds and we've even heard her say "hey" and "yeah". She still doesn't love to sleep but we have good days and nights... She started going to the nursery at preschool this week in preparation for me going back to work and it's going very well. Campbell loves playing with Maggie and it's fun to watch her becoming a real big sister.

Weight Loss Wednesday

This is my sister, Sara, and her new fiance, John. Why do I start this post with their picture? Look how skinny they are...they don't need "Weight Loss Wednesday"... Well, they just got engaged (a huge CONGRATULATIONS to them!) and will be getting married on New Year's Eve. Yep, in about 3 and a half months, I will have to squeeze into a bridesmaid's dress. So, my kinda-trying-to-lose-weight-but-still-eating-oreos diet plan has got to shift into hyper-drive.

Last week I posted about the Couch to 5K beginning running program (see it here). A big part of why I have stuck with it is the Facebook group I created and posting my runs on Facebook so that my friends can keep me accountable and encourage me.

With that thought in mind, Robbie and I will be creating and participating in a Weight Loss Wednesday check in here on the Compton Corner. Each week we will post weight loss updates, our struggles and successes, and any tips we've learned during the week (I reserve the right to change this check in as needed).

If you are trying to lose weight, I'd love to include you in our check ins! Just weigh today (or tomorrow morning) and starting next week, let me know your goal, how much you lost and your struggles and successes, etc. If you have any ideas on how we can make this check in better, please let me know! I'm open to suggestions.

By the way, I weighed myself this morning for the first time in over 2 years...probably closer to 3 years. Yikes. (Nun'ya bizness) I'll post how much I lose but I hope no one ever finds out where I started.

Crafty Mommy Monday- on Hiatus

I hate to say this but Crafty Mommy Monday is going to have to take a few weeks off...  Between some sickness in our house, a fussy baby, and me returning to work, I just don't have the time to take pictures and write up the posts.  I hope to be back soon!

Couch to 5K

Many of y'all know that I have started doing the Couch to 5K program for beginning running.  I created a group on Facebook to help keep me accountable and it's actually worked!  I just finished Week 5, Day 2 which includes 2 eight-minute runs.

Robbie and I have an end goal: we signed up for the 5K Race for the Cure in Charlotte on October 2nd.  It'll be here before we know it!  We'd love for all of our local friends to join us!

Here is a picture of the girls before one of our runs:

If you're interested in joining our Facebook group, here is the link (I think this should work, if not let me know and I'll figure out how to fix it) http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/group.php?gid=137504416268580

Our Little Gamecock

Maggie says "Go Gamecocks!"

Campbell and Anna

This week we had a visit from some old friends.  Anna and her mommy Heather came up all the way from Columbia for a visit.  The girls had a great time playing (even if the mommies had to do lots of refereeing).

Here is a picture from one of their first playdates...our girls have gotten so big!
(and isn't it funny that Anna is wearing green in both pictures and Campbell is wearing pink)

Campbell's 1st Day of Preschool 2010

Who wants to go to preschool?  "I do, I do!"
"Let's go Mommy.  What are you waiting for?"
"Oh, wait, look at this bug!"
"Pose for a picture? No way, Mommy, that's so 2009."
"Where my purse, Mommy?"
"All right!  Let's go!"
