Our Dancing Princess

Campbell had her first dance recital this past Saturday.  It was a much-anticipated event and we were all so excited.  She and I had so much fun making an afternoon of it.  She had her hair done "like a princess" and even had a "cupcake picnic" with her friend Annabel.  

Once the girls were all dressed and waiting, they began practicing their moves.  It was so cute!

We were so proud when she got up on stage and fearlessly performed her dances.  She tried so hard and did a great job.  She did two dances: a ballet performance to "A Part of Your World" and a tap performance to "Big Girls Don't Cry". 

After the performances, the girls each got a trophy.  Campbell is so proud of her trophy!  She has not let it out of her sight.  She slept with it in front of her clock so she could see it, took it with her to church and school. and even asked to cuddle with it last night. :)

It was also special because my niece, Macy, was also in the recital.  She did a great job and was beautiful!

Come See Me

Our town has a fun festival every Spring called Come See Me.  We had so much fun this year going to parades, eating cotton candy, participating in a frog jump contest (with real frogs!), going to festivals and tea parties, and I ran in the 5K. We made lots of fun memories!

6 on Saturday

Here are 6 reasons I'm loving my girls this week:

1.  Maggie mastered a new skill that she's been working hard on: jumping!  Check out this cute video:

2.  Campbell's imagination has been in full force this week.  When I picked her up at school on Thursday she showed me a yellow ball that she said was her "baby unicorn egg".  Well, on Friday it hatched, so all weekend we've got to hear about the antics of the baby unicorn.  Last night, I might have had to go get it out of the living room for her to bring it in her bed when tucking her in.  That poor baby unicorn couldn't sleep all alone in the living room could it?

3.  Maggie is a cuddler.  She loves to be held and getting hugs and smooches.  Her new thing is that she likes to be rocked at night before bed.  It's not the stressful "will she ever go to sleep?!" rocking that we did when she was a baby; it's a sweet, cuddly time and I love it.

4.  Campbell staged a "dance parade" in the living room today.  It was hi-larious.  She dressed up in almost all of the contents of our dress up box and proceeded to demand our presence to watch her parade.  Then she danced her little heart out.  So cute!:

 6.  Campbell's first dance recital is coming up next Saturday.  She is so excited and so are we.  She got her 2 costumes this week and she is so adorable in them.  I may have made an appointment for her to get her hair done that day.  Don't judge...she is so excited to get her hair fixed "just like the princesses!"  I'm sure there will be a post with tons of pictures!

Sorry I've been so slack about these posts...life gets hectic around here! We're counting down the days until our Summer Break!

Here are 5 reasons I'm living my girls this week:

1. Campbell begged me to paint her fingernails and toenails on Easter.  We had fun doing it and she loved it!  Maggie only let me paint one hand and wouldn't let me do any more...

2. Maggie has been talking up a storm.  I love hearing her learn new phrases and words.  It's like she learns something new every day.  Phrases such as "Can't reach it!" and "I like that!" make me smile.  She also loves to make different expressions:

3.  Campbell is currently obsessed with bugs.  She loves inchworms, caterpillars, crickets, etc.  This photo is called "I'm catching my new friend!"

She is also a fan of larger animals...as evidenced by our recent trip to the zoo.

4.  Maggie has a zest for life that shows itself in her love of playing with her sister, her sweet and sassy smile, her appreciation for accessories, and curls that bounce along behind her as she runs.  Here are just a few cute pictures of her that show some of this:

5.  Campbell continues to say the funniest things...
"Mommy, my favorite colors are pink, purple, and rainbow!"
At the Easter church service, the preacher said to the congregation "You are free!"  Campbell quite loudly replied "I'm not free!  I'm four!"
"Daddy, can I have rainbow colors in my hair?"  Robbie's response: "Oh, Campbell, you're going to give me gray color in my hair."  My response: "Robbie, it's too late to be worried about that."

Happy Easter!

We started our Easter weekend by dyeing some eggs with an egg spinner I bought on clearance last year.  It was lots of fun for the girls!  I wish we had video because the pictures really don't do it justice.  One of my favorite moments was when the girls donned their winter hats...which for some reason is a current favorite thing to do.

The girls enjoyed getting their Easter baskets.  I am kind of weirded out by the idea of the Easter bunny so we didn't really talk too much about where the baskets came from...I mean, who wouldn't think that a huge bunny walking or hopping into houses carrying baskets is weird.  My kids will also never get their pictures taken with a man in a large bunny suit in the mall.  He scares me.  Ick.  But, regardless, the girls enjoyed their baskets, which for the first time included just a little bit of candy.  I didn't go overboard with the amount of stuff in them, but Campbell still exclaimed "wow! This is a lot of stuff!"  The hit of the morning was getting to eat a piece of chocolate before breakfast!

We attended a wonderful Easter service at our church and then headed to Nana and Pop's house for lunch and an Easter egg hunt.  It was a beautiful day!
