Daddy's Weekly Dollop

Welcome to another week of Daddy's Weekly Dollop where I (Robbie) review the week that was referred to as last week.  Here's this week's wrap-up.

1)  Evidence that Campbell's growing up - Campbell lost a second tooth last week.  She's not quite brave enough to pull them out herself, however, she's found the secret to evicting the tooth that doesn't involve her having to pull it out.  She brushes her teeth.  The first tooth came out by accident when she was brushing her teeth at night.  So for this second tooth, she did it again, but this time on purpose. 

2) Princess in training - as a reward for stopping biting her nails, Martha took Campbell (and Maggie) for a pedicure.  This was Campbell's 2nd one and Maggie's 1st.  The technician even drew a flower on one of each of the girls' nails.

3)  Country Girls - My in-laws have a stream (if that's what you call it) that runs through their back yard.  They've lived at their house for longer than Campbell's been around.  Anyway, for the first time ever, I took the girls down in the stream for an impromptu trip.  They loved it!  I think there are going to be many more trips down there as the summer draws close.

4) Watermelon on my head - We went to a birthday party on Satuday for our friends the Hedgepeths'.  They have a set of triplets that just turned four.  Anyway, about 3 minutes from arriving at their party, Maggie decided it was time to take an afternoon nap.  For the first 30 minutes of the party, Maggie and I enjoyed it from the comfort of our van.

The party was a blast!  They even served the girls' favorite food . . . anything fruit (which included watermelon).   On the way home, Campbell was telling us a story that supposedly her music teacher told her that involved the music teacher putting his head in a watermelon.  Campbell stated, "I want to put my head in a watermelon."   So we stopped, and I picked up a seedless watermelon for the girls.  That night, they enjoyed it . . . . literally.

5) Maggie's Friends - It's been so much fun watching Maggie make friends this year.  She's always been a very sociable child and made friends easily.  Her newest friend is Georgia.  Everytime we mention the State of Georgia, it's followed by "Hey, I have a friend named Georgia."  Anyway, today Maggie's preschool, which is a laboratory school attached to Winthrop University, had special outing at the Winthrop baseball game.  All the kids got to run out onto the field with the Winthrop players (which I have no pictures of even though I took over a 100 pictures - but forgot to put in the memory card).  They kids also all sat together at the game.  Here's a view from our seats and Maggie with her BFF Georgia.

 

Just to warn you, we'll be taking a week off from the blog.  The girls do not know this yet, but we're heading to Disney Friday after school for a surprise trip.  Wish us safe travels and we'll be back in two weeks with a Dollop of Disney picture.

Daddy's Weekly Dollop

Here's week two of my installment of Daddy's Weekly Dollop - a recap of the week according to Robbie.

1) Farmer Campbell and Farmer Maggie - Martha and Campbell decided that their spring break project was going to be to build a garden.  Their project, quickly became my project.  I built them an 8' x 8' raised bed.  On Easter day we planted some sugar snap peas, zucchini, cucumber, and lettuce. in 45 - 60 days, I'll report the progress . . . . Or I'll show you some pictures of me purchasing some of the above produce and me throwing them into the garden to "show the girls" the fruits of their labor.

2)  Not your average Easter eggs - This year, I took Campbell to help me go pick out the Easter egg dye kit.  She picked out "monster eggs."  What turned out to be something different actually turned out to be a great idea.  For the first time, the activity didn't conclude when we finished dying the eggs.  The two girls hung out for another 30 more minutes playing with their monsters.

3) Inchworms - My girls, both girls, love inchworms.  The obsession started when Campbell was in preschool at Macfeat (at Winthrop University).  They have several large trees in their playground that must be a inchworm-magnet.  This obsession has continued for several years and has even spread to her sister Maggie.  Here is a picture of our Easter photo shoot that was interrupted by a  . . . . you guessed it.

4) A week that Campbell will never forget - This past week was Martha and Campbell's spring break.  Martha really needed this time away from work to work on her National Boards renewal.  Because of that, Campbell spent the week going to friends houses for play dates.  Each day concluded with "I don't want to go home."  However, because of these friends, Martha was able to knock out about 90% of her renewal application.  Here are some of the pictures of Campbell's play dates:

5)  He has Risen - That's right, it's Easter.  We spent the day at church and with family.  Here are some pictures of the girls either from today, or from their week filled with egg hunts.

Daddy's Weekly Dollop

Daddy's Weekly Dollop:  A weekly recap of daddy awesomeness.

While Martha is busy working on her National Boards renewal, wow, can you believe that it has already been 10 years, I (Robbie) will be taking over blog duties.  First order of business, rename the weekly updates.  Presenting . . . . drum roll . . . . . Daddy's Weekly Dollop:  A weekly recap of daddy awesomeness.

1) Campbell's First T-Ball Game - This spring, the girls are participating in ROAR Sports  Campbell's playing t-ball and Maggie's participating in a Junior Soccer Camp.  I'm the coach of Campbell's t-ball team, the Red Sox.  Each game/practice feels a lot like this:  click here.  Anyway, Campbell had her first game and here are some pictures:

This about sums it up . . . my team (all 10 players) and a member of the other team all chasing a hit ball.

Last year we tried soccer and it was too much running for her.  However, she's thoroughly enjoying t-ball.

2) Carowinds - We got season passes to Carowinds and we've gone a few times since opening weekend.  Last weekend I took the girls for the day so Martha could type.  The girls rode their first roller coaster together:

3) Checkers Hockey - I took Campbell and Maggie, and Elisa, a friend of the girls, to their first hockey game.  I was proud of the fact that they made it through 2 periods before they hit the "I'm board out of my mind" wall.  The highlight of the day for the girls was meeting the mascot, Chubby, and riding the "train" (light rail) to the game.

4)  Siblings - April 10th is National Siblings Day and we are so lucky to have two girls who truly love for and care each other. 

5) Come See Me - Rock Hill has a weekly festival that takes place once a year.  The Come See Me festival just concluded on Saturday with a fireworks show over the lake at Winthrop University.  Here are some of the pictures from Come See Me:
