March for Babies, Run for Dimes Check In

This is my 4th check in for March for Babies, Run for Dimes.  I'm sorry it's been more than a week since my last check in.  I've done pretty well and only missed one day of running and that was due to being sick as a dog.  I did make up a 1/2 mile of the run that I missed during the next run, so I only docked myself 1 and 1/2 miles on my "Slacker Ticker".  Also, I had to miss my run Tuesday due to the babysitter being sick.  I decided to make up that run yesterday by taking the girls on a 2+ mile walk...even though I was walking, I counted it because I was pulling 50+ pounds of kid plus the wagon. :)

This week's goal: 7.5 miles

So that we don't forget what we're running for, each week I will post one picture of Campbell in the NICU and one fact about the March of Dimes.  Please consider supporting us in our effort to raise money for the March of Dimes.

March of Dimes fact: An unusual occurrence of neural tube defects (NTDs) in Brownsville, Texas, coupled with new evidence that folic acid was instrumental in fighting this scourge, led to the March of Dimes Folic Acid Campaign in 1998. Based on a U.S. Public Health Service recommendation that women of child-bearing age take 400 micrograms of the B vitamin folic acid daily to reduce the likelihood of NTDs in newborns, the campaign succeeded in its goal of raising awareness and reducing the incidence of this class of birth defect with the help of grain fortification mandated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
