Top 10 Things We've Learned

Here are the top 10 things we've learned in the past 48 hours:

1. Campbell is a loud sleeper...and we (ok, Martha) jump up to check on her every time

2. Robbie (and Campbell) can sleep through bottle feedings

3. Campbell loves her Baby Papasan chair (see picture #1) and will sleep in it for hours

4. Folly (our younger dog) has decided she is Campbell's protector. If Campbell cries, Folly cries. If Norah (our other dog) gets too close, Folly growls at her. If we carry Campbell to another room, Folly will follow.

5. An hour of uninterrupted sleep is a rare treat

6. 8 diaper changes = 16 diapers (yes that means we go through more than one when changing her...)

7. Campbell's hair has a hint of red in the sunlight

8. Robbie has no shame: he asked the nurse at the pediatrician's office to please wash her hands before touching Campbell

9. It's amazing the excuses people invent to stop by..."Can I bring you dinner? Oh, yeah, can we stay and eat it with you?" (Just kidding Nana, we love you!)

10. The nurses at the NICU won't ever get a chance to miss us...we've already called 4 times with "urgent" questions about Campbell (correction 8:59pm - 5 calls)

Martha,
Campbell is beautiful. And yes men can sleep through feedings! I am glad to hear your life is almost normal. I have been tempted to stop by myself, but I will wait for a while. Keep us posted and I just love the pictures.

Really cute photos! I'm sure you are exhausted, what a great reward to have your daughter at home with you! So much more to come and learn, much strength to all of you!

Just give it time, Mar... When she gets a little bigger and you're both more experienced, you'll bring her back to bed (or the guest room bed) to nurse and both get to sleep! Sometimes, it's just too much to sit up for 15 minutes and nurse in the middle of the night...
Love you guys, Julie

It's so neat to hear about your at home experiences. Anna too is a loud sleeper. It's amazing how much noise a little person can make when they are supposed to be asleep! She also has a hint of red in her hair and its fun to see it shine bright when we're by a window. I was also very afraid of falling asleep when feeding Anna. Some times I would wake up in the middle of the night thinking I was holding her and had fallen asleep. But she was in her bed and Patrick had to calm me down! You're doing great!!!

Good morning Campbell, I am on my way to church in just a little while. I can not wait to announce your homecoming. Everyone will be so excited. The people at Heath Memorial United Methodist Church have been praying very hard for this day. Praise the Lord!

You enjoy your day with mommy, daddy and little sisters(your pets)

Oh, the joys of new parenting! I thought on a couple of the last posts that Campbell's hair had a reddish tint to it. I guess she may have inherited that from her Aunt Emily. She is beautiful and I'm so glad ya'll are settling in at home. I can't wait to come see her but I'll wait until I get the go ahead.

Love, Adrienne

Sounds like you guys are having fun! We are always wondering what ya'll are doing and if you are getting any sleep! It gets better and you learn to love the middle of the night sessions as much as you loathe them! It is a strangfe world when you count poopy diapers! Have fun!
