We're taking a family vacation!

Hello Everybody!

Martha here...I wanted to let everyone know some exciting news. We have officially booked our first vacation as a family. Robbie, Campbell, and I will be staying in the luxury resort known as the Presbyterian Hospital "Rooming In Room" this weekend! Yay! This means we are really close to coming home. They make parents do "rooming in" with their baby to make sure we can take care of her needs (feeding her, giving her medicines, etc.) with the nurses nearby if we need them. We are really excited about spending some quality time together as a family!

Campbell is doing well. Yesterday her bloodwork showed that she was anemic. We have been watching this the past few weeks and her blood counts have steadily gone down. Anemia is very common with preemies, they even call it "anemia of prematurity". While she is making her own red blood cells, she's not quite making them fast enough. This can make babies tired and cause other problems (some may require oxygen or have more bradys which Campbell did not). So, yesterday they did another blood transfusion (actually they did 2 because her numbers had gotten so low). We are hoping that this will give her the boost she needs to take more feedings. It was the day after her last transfusion a few weeks ago that she got off the CPAP, so we are optimistic! She has taken 3 full feedings in a row already today, so...so far it's working!

On a funny side note . . . so you all read Campbell's comments about Robbie's mother being banned from the NICU. Well, she received a letter today from Presbyterian Hospital. READ THE LETTER Can you believe that the really banned her? (Note-remember today's date as you read this)

If you have not done so yet, please check out the post below and leave Campbell a comment. We have really enjoyed reading about all of the people who read the blog!

That is too funny! They mean business! I guess nobody will know Campbell's business...unless of course... they read the blog!!! Ha! Have a great vacation and Robbie, don't forget your sunscreen! Those heat lamps will really burn ya! I guess it will give you a nice base tan to hang with us at Folly! Soon enough...

This is wonderfull, Campbell. You and your family has won the grand prize vacation. How awesome! I know you will love having them there with you for the whole weekend. If they get on your last nerve just send them home or have the hospital bann them! This is such great news "coming home" is not far away. You be a good little girl while mommy and daddy are there. When I saw the suitcase I first thought you were going home!!

Robbie, If I were your mother, I would disown you! Not Campbell or Martha...they're keepers...but you? Not that I'm worried, I'm sure Mom will find a way to make you regret that! :D (but very funny!)

P.S.: You'd better get caught up on your sleep now...sounds like you don't have too much longer to do so! Yay!

Good Luck with the "rooming in." Don't be nervous. I was so nervours with ours that I didn't sleep a wink-- I regretted that the next night when she was actually home. Our fingers are crossed for you. YEA, Campbell!!!

Isn't Robbie funny? NOT SO! I received that letter in the mail. I called him, and he kept having me read it again and again so him. I felt bad, because I felt I had embarrassed the whole family. i really didn't care about the letter since Campbell would be home before I would be able to see her again, but i just didn't want to embarrass that PRESCOUS NEW LITTLE FAMILY! Right now I am only counting Campbell as family both of the parents I am disowning. Anyhow, Martha calls me in her quiet voice and says, "Gale what is going on". So I told her I had the letter, she told me to read it to her. Keep in mind I've read this letter over a dozen times, I could repeat it by heart if I wanted to. I open the letter to read to her, and the first thing I saw was April 1, 2008. That little April fools joke was way better than the ones I use to do with my adult kids. The other thing I didn't catch was it said if i had any questions to call so and so number. Well it was Robbie's number. So I'm enlisting all of you to give me ideas of how to get even!!! Thanx, Gale

Not only do I get to keep up with Campbell, but I get my daily dose of comedy too! I'm so glad you have it now, you'll need it as she gets older too!!!

So, when I read "Family Vacation" I thought Martha and Robbie were taking a "last hurrah" weekend... But this is so much more exciting! (Until maybe she's 2 and you were wishing for that couples' getaway (every weekend!))We hope it goes great!
