"You need to post so I can read people's comments."

here are some more "outtakes" from Campbell's photo session

As most of you know, I (robbie) have returned to work this week. It's not the easiest thing to get up and head out each morning . . . but it's nice knowing that I have a beautiful girl and wife waiting for me when I get home. For the most part, Martha is getting used to being a "stay at home" mom (for the time being). I think she enjoys motherhood and taking short "cat naps" when Campbell takes hers to make up for the lost sleep at night. (Ah . . . catnaps . . .those must be nice)

Anyway, today is the first day that I think Martha sort of got bored being home alone with Campbell. To make it worse, tomorrow I'll be gone from 6:30am until 9pm. Well, when I got home today she said, "you know you didn't post today . . ." I'm thinking "so . . . I was tired yesterday and people can wait one day for a Campbell update." (sorry . . . I was tired last night . . .go figure) I think she saw that I was thinking about "not posting" so she then said, "But that meant no one commented today and I love reading the comments . . . plus, I was bored."

So let me pose a question for you (I'll also add a vote to the right). Most of you saw the video from two days ago (two post down) of Campbell sitting in her Papasan Chair and "playing" with the toys hanging from the top of the chair. A coworker of mine, to remain nameless (rhymes with Musan- who, by the way, gave us a really cute swing and clothes today-Thanks!), said, "How cute, she's batting at the toy." I took a little offense at this . . . batting . . . "no, she was reaching at it. We all know how advanced Campbell is"

So I guess here is the question . . . take a look at the video below and let me (Martha) know what you thoughts are about Campbell's actions in that video. . . is she "batting" at it, or is she "reaching" for it? Be honest . . . it's not going to hurt my feelings.

PS Yesterday Campbell had a dr. appointment with the eye dr. One of the common problems with preemies is retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) which can lead to glasses, surgery, or even blindness. She has been having eye exams every 2 weeks for a while. Well...yesterday she graduated- the eye doctor says she has no signs of ROP and he doesn't need to see her back for 6 months! Yay!! So that makes perfect heart scans, perfect brain scans, passed hearing screening, and now passed the vision test! Go Campbell!
CLARIFICATION!!!: This is Martha and I want to clear up what Robbie said about being bored. I think it's clearer to say that I was feeling "trapped" since Campbell can't go anywhere yet and we really can't have a whole lot of visitors. Trust me, even though she sleeps a lot, she keeps me busy with laundry, bottles, diapers, plus trying to catch up on the sleep she deprived me of the night before. I'm having a lot of fun bonding with her, but it is quite a transition to go from spending 12 hours in the hospital with all of the nurses to keep me company to being at home alone most of the day. Of course, I wouldn't trade her being home for anything, but I'm looking forward to when she and I can be "out and about" more.

Campbell you are very advanced remember you have some Warmoth blood flowing there. I know you were reaching for that toy.
Martha, before long your bordom will be over and you will pray for it back! Robbie, I know you hate to go to work and leave the girls, but they are in good hands with the two (sisters)!
I got a peep at your little princess today and she is so beautiful! Campbell, I hope by next summer you will enjoy wearing your cute little dress and bow! I love little girl clothes and I think you mommy does , too. All of you have a good day and we love you.
Love
Cousin Susan

Martha, You won't have too much more time for boredom. Just wait, she will start staying awake longer, crawling, walking, talking, getting into everything including the pots and pans (which by the way is the best entertainment for them). Soon, you will be exhausted from chasing her around and will miss those cat naps. But then, when she is down for 1 long nap, you will also enjoy that too. And, one more thing, YOU CAN ALWAYS SEND HER TO THIS GRANDMA'S HOUSE!!!!! I know, wait Gale and be patient. Litlle Matthew always says "you have to have patience". It's funny to hear it, especially in the form he uses it. Like telling him, "Matthew you need to eat", he says "Grandma you have to have patience". The first time he did it, I about fell out of the chair!!! Anyhow, back to the most beautiful* girl in the world, she is really a smart child. Look how she brought 100's of people together. Even on the forum that I am in, they all follow her progress and are always asking about her. Usually I don't give them a chance, because I don't wait until asked, I just jump in and tell. Martha, have a great day! Read some books, get hooked on soaps (yuck). You know we love you!

Robbie, Martha, and Campbell - I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the updates. Robbie - I can't imagine what it's like to go back to work after a child is born. I've been fortunate enough to be able to work from home, and my husband can, too, most days. Sometimes, though, even that's now easy (kids can be loud....). The grass is truly always greener.... Martha - I echo Mrs. Parker's comments just above. As much as I want my own children to reach new milestones, it's also a bold reminder of how quickly time flies and how soon they grow up. It's bittersweet, but mostly sweet. Campbell - you are such a reminder to me of the awesome things God can do! I have shared your story with my Sunday school class and my church circle. We have prayed for all of you, and we praised Him when you were safely home. As much as I love the updates, and as much as your Mommy loves to read the comments, I know that you are busy keeping your parents in line, so just try to post when you can OK?

Little Campbell is advanced!! (Keep in mind Robbie, that usually babies bat and then reach and grab.) This one may be too close to call, but either way she's an alert little girl. Martha, some days can be pretty boring, but as soon as you feel comfortable you'll have errands to run to TARGET, groceries to buy, weeds to pick in the yard, etc. For now, get your rest and soak it all in. You can read a book or even pamper yourself. It won't be boring for long! Robbie, hang in there with work. I felt really bad for Patrick who didn't have much sleep and then had to go to work all day. You guys sure are tough! Crazy how life can change in such a short amount of time, huh?

Not only was Campbell reaching, but she was clearly saying to herself, "this animal has huge feet. I hope my dainty feet won't get as big!"

Congrats to you all for no ROP! Yeah! good job Campbell! I remember those tests back when our little one was in the NICU, they can scary and worrysome.
I think Campbell's intentions are to reach for the toys however she may have batted them since she doesn't have the flexibility in her fingers to make it "look" like a reach. but she's got it down I say, she's a smart little cookie already! ;-)

Way to go Campbell!! You are such a big girl!! I definitely think she was reaching, very smart girl you have there! I have a pretty handsome and intelligent boy here if she is looking...LOL he is a wee bit older than her though :0) I know what you mean about going stir crazy in your house. I thankfully didn't have a preemie so I was able to get out of the house early on but let me tell you those first few weeks were insane! You get tired of the same 4 walls. They keep you busy but at this age they do sleep a lot and aren't much "fun". Like every one else said that passes quickly and you have a VERY active toddler on your hands. Check out my blog if you have a chance, you will see what you are in for! LOL It is an amazing time in your life and you will never get these moments back, take each one in and savor it, they grow too quickly.
