Mommy had a good day!

I had a really good day today with Campbell! She and I got to try nursing twice and we had lots of bonding time. She was a little more tired today during nursing but still showed us all that she has this whole "suck, swallow, breathe" thing down. I told the nurse that I knew she wouldn't have any problems because she has Hopper blood and us Hopper girls have never had problems with food! :) Sorry, sisters, but you all know it's true! I also got to change a yucky diaper...fun, fun! I'm sure there will be many more in my future!
She has been breathing all on her own for 24 hours and shows no signs of stopping! She has lost a tiny bit of weight in the last couple of days and we think it is the leftover fluid that she still had to lose as well as all the calories she's been burning by breathing on her own. She is now eating 26 mL per feeding (which is her current max) with the 24 calorie supplement so I bet she'll be putting on some weight soon!

On another subject, I received an email yesterday about a group who wanted to join Team Campbell for the March of Dimes walk. I wanted to let you all know that if you'd like to join our team and walk with us on April 26th, you are all welcome! You can click on the March of Dimes sign on the right of the screen to join us. I think it would be awesome to have a big group of people out there supporting Campbell and other preemies. I found out recently that the March of Dimes was one of the organizations that funded research on a drug called Surfactant. Campbell received this drug and we credit it with helping her stay off the ventilator. This is just one of the many ways the March of Dimes has impacted our lives.

Love you all! Martha

Dear Campbell, I just wanted to apologize for not getting to see you today or going to your mommy's shower. Hopefully, I will be well enough in the near future to be able to come and see you. We sure miss you and are really looking forward to seeing you in the very near future. Just remember even though you don't get to see us very often, we really love you!

Hey Campbell, I am sitting here wondering what to wear to your mommmy's shower. Just like us girls! I am so proud of you for nursing so well, and for breathing on your own. You have become a big part of our lives and we pray for you, your mommy and your daddy every day. Keep growing and be a good little princess.

Dear Campbell,
I wish I could be at your Mommy's shower today! But I have to hold the fort up here in Virginia b/c your Uncle Dean just had surgery. But I left your gift at Nana's house when I was last there, so I'm there in spirit! I got you something very sweet!
I love you!

Good Afternoon,Campbell. Julia and I went to your shower today and you really got some neat things. Some cute clothes and a really soft blanket. We watched you on video and it was amazing to see how much you have grown. We had some GOOD food there also. Your mommy looked so pretty and was just bragging on what a good girl you are,so keep up the good work.
