Above is Campbell's newest Smilebox. It's of her first month of life. Martha and I hope you enjoy.

Campbell has had a pretty good day. She did a 3 hour room-air trial today and did pretty good. This evening though, not so good. She only lasted for about 30 minutes. However, don't be discouraged . . . it's not Campbell's fault. Her oxygen limits for the past 28 days have been between 82% - 96%. Well, her new limits (for babies greater than 28 days of life) are 92% - 98%. So even though it wasn't a good night with her new limits, less than 24 hours ago it would have been "normal." So it's not really her fault . . . it's just the increased limits. As suspected, she did lose a few ounces today since they gave her the lasix (thanks Julie and Mom for pointing out the misspelling . . . give Campbell a break, she's only 4 weeks old). She is now 3lbs 4oz and is 15.25 inches long. We heard that the pic-line might come out tomorrow. By pulling the line out, it means that she will no longer be on any antibiotics or IV fluids . . . she'll be IV free!!! Finally, it's the big 32 weeks (can you believe that it's already been one month?) and that means that they will begin "real" feedings sometime this week. I'm secretly hoping that it's tomorrow (Monday), but if she's not ready for that yet . . . I'll understand.

Not only have we gained a beautiful pint-size princess in one month, here are some little facts about what Martha and I have also gained over this past month:

  • 113 post on this blog with tons of comments . . . keep them coming!
  • $490 raised for the March of Dimes (goal is $1,000)
  • 2,880 miles back and forth to see Campbell
  • 52 meals out (we are going to put an end to this one)
  • 30 nights in the NICU @ $2,000 a night - $60,000 of excellent babysitting services
  • gained 5 primary nurses, but lost 2 due to them moving
  • 159 minutes of hand washing
  • an incredible outpouring of support from our family and friends
  • & a more beautiful daughter than we could have ever imagined!
