Okay, the voting is over about SSI. I'm copying/pasting this from the social security website:
"Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a Federal income supplement program funded by general tax revenues (not Social Security taxes):
| It is designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people, who have little or no income; and | |
| It provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter." |
Because Campbell was born a preemie, she automatically qualifies while she is in the hospital and it's not income dependant. We are so lucky that she does qualify because we'll really benefit from those SSI Checks!!! Those $30 a month checks are really going to help meet her "basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter." All preemies under 2lbs 10oz automatically get $30/month while they are in the hospital because it has nothing with their parent's income.

You all crack me up with your posts. Your sense of humor is great. Keep your spirits up, your little girl senses that! Whoever figures out those SSI numbers, doesn't realize how much cute little girl clothes are for the pint size princess! Kathy D.
Yeah they re worked our SSI a few times while we were in and we wound up getting back pay from it, lol. Plus a one time check of around 500$ when he was discharged to help buy things like a crib and such?
Good luck! She's looking so cute in her pics every day!

In NY Eliza and I were VERY lucky because in addition to to $30 check from SSI to meet her "basic" needs, we also got a $5 check from the state of NY. I had to sign an affidavit swearing I would only use the $5 for the benefit of Eliza. Hmmmm. I decided that using the five bucks to go to Starbucks on the way to my evening NCCU visit was in fact using it for Eliza's benefit!
Hope things continue to improve each day!
